A comment Mr. Amoah says bothered him and still bothering him.
The incumbent Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East District Constituency Dr. Dominic Ayine while addressing the media after his nomination filing, gave what he claimed to be advice to Mathew Silas Amoah the Parliamentary Candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to spend his money wisely because whether he likes it or not, he Dominic Ayine is going to retain the seat to continue his good mandate.
“So please, tell Mathew Amoah my good junior brother wherever he has gotten his money from, he should spend it wisely because am going to retain the seat,” Dr. Ayine said.
Meanwhile, speaking to Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of ApexnewsGh during a One-on-one exclusive interview on Sunday, August 27, 2023, Mr. Amoah voiced, “There is a comment I heard that has bothered me and still bothering me. I heard a comment that, wherever am getting my money from I should spend wisely. I have a question for the good people of Upper East Region and the good people of Bolga East”.
Further in response to Ayine’s criticism of his wealth, Amoah stated that he has worked hard to achieve his success and believes in the principles of entrepreneurship and free-market capitalism. He believes that his business experience and financial acumen will allow him to make informed decisions and implement effective policies that will promote economic growth and opportunity in the constituency.
“Last week or two, our ambulance has been down for some time and our mothers the pregnant women were carrying tricycles across various communities in the district to the clinic. I think A1 reported it and I heard it. We came to fully fund the repairs of the ambulance and I think by the grace of God if is not already on the road by this week, it should be on the road. A number of kids I have helped pay their school fees, I can’t count them, people who are bed ridding in the hospital and can’t even buy drugs, I have helped pay, students barely lying on their stomachs to study, I was able to provide furniture for them, the teacher was drawing a computer on the board to teach kids about a computer, I have been able to provide some computers to some schools”.
“If this is not spending wisely, I don’t think keeping money in my account waiting for the last minute to distribute it so that they will vote for me and I will go and come back 4 years again is spending wisely”.
I want to respond to that; We are not throwing the money away, we are putting the money in the lives of people. We are paying school fees, we are helping treat the sick. Look, in our part of the region with Ghc 200.00, someone can start a business. I was able to give a woman Ghc 200.00 sometime back, the last time I visited the woman she had a table and I was able to add her Ghc 300.00 and I know the next time I will visit her, she probably will have a small kiosk. So, this is not spending wisely? I should keep the money in Accra, driving a different car in Accra, and bring a different car home to drive, is that spending wisely? He asked
