Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin insists John Mahama will lose 2024 elections

The Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has cautioned against voting for former President John Mahama in the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for December 7. Apexnewsgh reports

According to Afenyo-Markin, giving Mahama another chance at the country’s highest office would not be in the best interest of Ghana.

During a press briefing on Friday, April 19, 2024, Afenyo-Markin stated that Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have nothing new to offer Ghanaians. He emphasized Mahama’s past track record as both vice president and president, stating that there is a lack of urgency in their approach.

Furthermore, Afenyo-Markin expressed concerns about potential internal conflicts within the NDC should Mahama win the election, claiming that the party members would already be competing for leadership positions from the start.

He highlighted the need for a stable government that focuses on the country’s development, suggesting that the flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would be a better choice for Ghana’s future.

Additionally, Afenyo-Markin criticized Mahama’s running mate, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, for allegedly not making significant contributions to her home region, Central, and questioned her ability to attract votes based on her performance.

He continued to endorse the NPP candidate and emphasized the need for a government that can deliver on its promises and drive progress for the country.
