Breaking News: OSP declares Ofori Atta wanted

Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive and placed him on its wanted list. This announcement was made by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng during a press briefing on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Apexnewsgh reports

According to Agyebeng, Ofori-Atta had repeatedly refused to honor invitations for questioning regarding ongoing investigations in which he is a suspect. The OSP is investigating several high-profile cases, including:

Loss Reduction Contract: A contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Beijing Jao aimed at reducing system losses.
National Cathedral Procurement: Procurement irregularities related to the controversial National Cathedral project.
Health Ministry Contracts: Contracts awarded by the Ministry of Health to Service Ghana Auto Limited for the procurement of ambulances.
SML-GRA Deal: A contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) allegedly worth billions.

The OSP has emphasized that it will take all necessary measures to compel Ofori-Atta to appear and answer questions related to the investigations. Despite his legal team claiming that he is indefinitely out of the country for medical reasons, the OSP appears unconvinced and is determined to ensure his return to face questioning.
