Aspiring parliamentary candidate in the Talensi Constituency under the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Robert Alibo Ayinaba has said, assessing his past and present leadership record for the party will help describe his kind of leadership role.
Addressing party members after filing his nomination form in Tongo on Saturday, July 29, 2023, cautioned members against what he describes as ‘transactional politics’
“I wish to indicate that politics is a social contract, a contract between the people and the leaders they so elect. One thing we need to note is that, in that contractual arrangement, everybody must hold his power on the side of the contract where he or she stands. You will lose the power in that arrangement if everything about party interest is not in the mix of the consideration you make to select a parliamentary candidate. And I can tell you, persons who have indicated they have money and they can win are beginning to embark on transactional politics, and what transactional politics offers us is that once I paid you money and you give me a vote that is the end of the story, but the contract ends in 4 years and there must be respect between the leader and the laid in those 4 years, it must not end by the exchange of money. We will not be pausing development in that regard”.
According to Mr. Alibo, party interest must be the number one consideration, the caliber of the candidate must also count, and the credibility of the candidate must count in the sight, in the eye, and in the mind of the people.
“For me, I have dedicated my life to the NPP since 1994, I have served in various capacities as a polling station chairman, electoral area coordinator, constituency first vice chairman person, and a constituency chairman. I hope in that structure of our party at almost every level and beyond that, I have served as a patron for the party”. Mr. Alibo explained
He further stated that by assessing the conditions or consideration he mentioned such as character, credibility, quality, and so on, serving in all these positions, he has put himself out there for a topper assessment and if he is found incompetent at any point in those places, it won’t be hidden and If he is not trustworthy at those time, it will be known, stressing it is not difficult to assess Alibo. “I have worked with people in truth and in sincerity”. He stressed
Meanwhile, Robert Alibo Ayinenaba who successfully filed his nomination on Saturday, July 29, 2023, is making his 3rd attempt to become the NPP Talensi constituency candidate for 2024.
Addressing the media, Mr. Alibo maintained that because he respect the Talensi people, he will work with everybody not on the basis of where they come from, who they are, the political divide they long to, but adding that, “Development is based on need and base on need we will work together to uplift the Talensi District”.
