Believers of Kazakhstan has celebrated the Day of Araf (Arafat). It is also called “the dearest or most valuable of days”, since it is believed that for the good deeds done on this day, the believer will be rewarded many times over.

The day of Arafah falls on the second day of the pilgrimage. At dawn on this day, millions of pilgrims make their way from the valley of Mina to the mountain and plain of Arafat.

Standing in Arafat is an integral part of the Hajj. Pilgrims stand in humility, sincerely praying for the forgiveness of their sins and repent, offer prayers to Allah. Islamic scholars argue that without standing on Mount Arafat, Hajj literally does not count.

The mountain is located in Saudi Arabia, just twenty kilometers from the holy city of Mecca for all Muslims. This low mountain, about 60 meters high, is also called by some the Mount of Mercy or Jabal al-Rahma. The day after the Day of Arafah, believers will begin to celebrate one of the main holidays of the year – Eid al-Adha.

History of the holiday

It is believed that after their expulsion from paradise, Adam and Eve were separated for a long time, praying and asking for forgiveness from the Almighty. Finally, Allah forgave them, and they met on Mount Arafat, offering prayers of thanks. After that, Allah promised that from now on all the prayers uttered at Arafat will be accepted by Him. Therefore, on the Day of Arafah, all prayers are accepted and all sins are forgiven.

In addition, Muslims believe that the Prophet Muhammad last preached at this very place.

What to do for those who do not perform Hajj

Muslims who meet the holy holiday not on the mountain, but in their homeland, must observe fasting on this day. They are forbidden to eat after sunrise and before sunset. At the same time, for pilgrims standing on Mount Arafat, fasting is not necessary, since they need to conserve strength for worship.

Housework (including cooking) must be completed before lunch, after spending the afternoon reading prayers: you need to ask for mercy from Allah not only for yourself, but also for parents, relatives, relatives and friends. In addition, it is desirable to help the needy with alms whenever possible.
