The Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, has revealed that the region has largely enjoyed peace since he assumed office, except for a recent incident in Pusiga. Apexnewsgh reports

Speaking during his maiden engagement with journalists in the region, the Minister acknowledged that the region faces security challenges, including chieftaincy disputes, land and mining issues, and the threat of violent extremism.

Dr. Bin Salih expressed concern over the Bawku Conflict, which is being addressed through mediation mechanisms. He assured that the government, through the Ministry of National Security and REGSEC, is working tirelessly to resolve the conflict and restore lasting peace to the area.

The Minister also mentioned the Bolgatanga chieftaincy dispute, which is currently before the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi, and the security challenges posed by mineral resources in the region. He disclosed that REGSEC would engage with stakeholders, including traditional authorities and mining companies, to address these challenges.

The Minister urged the public to be vigilant and report suspicious characters to the security agencies, emphasizing the need for collective effort to maintain peace in the region.
