Confidence of citizens will be boosted if leadership exhibit transparency on how revenues collected are put to use– Sadat

According to the NDC representative and a regional member of the communication team Jambeidu Mbawini Sadat, leadership must be transparent and open to Ghanaians on how revenues collected are been put to use. Speaking on Apexnews Ghana programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” on Monday, September 12, 2022. Mr. Jambeidu believes that will be the only forward on improving revenue collection in our various MMDAs. “I blame ourselves because is high time we become transparent, is high time we become very open as leaders, as far as governance is concerned and when you are transparent, no reasonable Ghanaian will tell you I will not pay tax. They will be eager to even pay the tax”. He said “Let me put it on record, there is no developing country that says, we can stand without taxes, no government can come and say I will rule this country without generating Internal Revenue to run the affairs of the country. The same that, there is no District that will say I won’t mobilize I won’t say won’t generate Internal Generated Fund to run the Assembly but only depend on the central government for their day to day activity”. He pointed Mr. Jambeidu also, explained that with the current state of the Assembly where DCEs are currently working for months without receiving their salaries, there is a possibility of revenue wastage because the DCEs will want to survive with the little coming into the Assembly from some other sources. “And even currently, am told, Common Fund doesn’t come regularly and some appointees like the DCE’s am told their salaries have not been paid since they assume office, I don’t know if now they have started paying them. So, if you don’t pay them, It means the DCEs will be feasting with the little resource that is meant for running of the assembly activity”. “This Particular government the transparency is not there and that is one the key thing”. Mahama govt wanted to fund Bolga -Bawku with road tolls levy– Abdulai Abanga

Deputy Minister for Ministry of Works and Housing Abanga Abdulai has said, that the NDC John Dramani Mahama government wanted to fund the Bolga-Bawku road with the collection of Ghc1, Ghc1 road tolls. Mr. Abanga was responding to the press release issued by the Regional Communication Bureau of the Opposition of the NDC in the region on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. The NDC press statement issued against Hon. Abanga said: “The attention of the NDC Regional communication Bureau has been drawn to a very wicked and mischievous lie by the MP for Binduri constituency that, President Mahama cut sod for the Bolgatanga -Bawku -Pulmonkom road three times”. “According to the non-performing MP “President Mahama came to that area to cut sod for the road not once, not twice but thrice or so and the road was still there” section of the press release says. Meanwhile, Speaking to Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen on ApexnewsGhana flagship developmental programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” on Thursday, September 29, 2022, the MP stated, that the Mahama government wanted to fund the Bolga-Bawku road with the Ghc1, Ghc1 road tolls and they say I shouldn’t complain about it. Whether the sod was cut once twice or thrice, that is not the meat of it, that wasn’t what I was dragging at, I wanted the people of Upper East to appreciate what the NPP government has done for them and because of that, the NPP deserved more. He stressed The Deputy Minister said, if the NDC were interested and very serious in delivering services to the people of the Upper East Region, they would have gone to secure a loan, a facility from a bank to fund that road. “How do you place a project like Bolga- Bawku Pulmakum road the funding to be finance by Road Fund? If you are really someone who is interested in the welfare of the people, the nature of that road, if the government then were interested and very serious in delivering services to the people of the Upper East Region, they would have gone to secure a loan, a facility from a bank to fund that road”. Referring to the Kwame Nkurumah Interchange popularly known as Accra Dubai which was constructed by John Dramani Mahama. The Deputy Minister questioned why the NDC refused to use a road toll levy for the circle interchange project but rather chose to frustrate the people of Upper East with the road tolls on an important road such as Bolga-Bawku road. “You remember the popular NDC Dubai in Circle? How do they fund it? They went for a loan. So, the Accra people are more important than the Upper East people? The Bawku people were refusing to travel back home because of the nature of that road and were spending 4 hours on that road. I was very surprised the NPP was treating the people of the Upper East like that. So, I don’t think the people of Upper East Should reward NDC with more”. The people of Upper East should rather reward NPP with more seats for delivering Bolga-Bawku road

The Binduri Member of Parliament Abanga Abdulai says, he still stands by his pronouncement made about NDC’s unseriousness and treatment shown the people of the Upper East Region towards the construction of Bolga-Bawku, stressing that, if the people of Upper East want to be fair, they should rather reward the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with more of the seats from the region. Mr. Abanga made his stance stronger whiles responding to the press release issued by the Regional Communication Bureau of the Opposition of the NDC in the region on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. “The attention of the NDC Regional communication Bureau has been drawn to a very wicked and mischievous lie by the MP for Binduri constituency that, President Mahama cut sod for the Bolgatanga -Bawku -Pulmonkom road three times”. “According to the non-performing MP “President Mahama came to that area to cut sod for the road not once, not twice but thrice or so and the road was still there” section of the press release says. Meanwhile, Speaking to Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen on ApexnewsGhana flagship developmental programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” on Thursday, September 29, 2022, the MP said, The bottom line of his statement is not about whether the former President Mahama cut sod one time, two times, three times. “The bottom line of my statement and still stand by it, is that the NDC that the people of the Upper East Region have consistently been voting for is providing very little as compared to what this government for 4 years has done for the people of the Upper East Region. So, the people of the Upper East Region, if they want to be fair should rather reward the New Patriotic Party with more of the seats from the region”. He said: “I sighted the example of the Bolga- Pulmakum road, this road if you are in the Upper East before 2017, there are times that people will say it openly that people who come from Bawku, Zebilla were refusing to travel back home because of the nature of the road. Is just like today, there is no dumsor, people seem to have forgotten that in 2015-2016 there was dumsor that you could be in your offices and there is no light, you will be in your house and there was no light for your fridge, you want to iron your cloth and you don’t have light, and factories had to close down because there was no light. But, today because there is a regular light, people have forgotten that there use to be dumsor was NDC was in power”. “I am saying that before NPP came to power, the Bawku road was a death trap. You have to travel about 4 hours before you get to Bolga”. “Yesterday, I was in my village Bassi and I got up there within 20 minutes I was in Bolga, because the New Patriotic Party led by Nana Akufo-Addo came to power and look for money to construct that road. Today, am sitting in Accra. It is possible because that has been fixed within less than 4 years”. “And they come and they are talking about me not performing, Look, is only the people of Binduri who can determine whether am performing or not”. How do you place a project like Bolga- Bawku Pulmakum road the funding to be financed by Road Fund? If you are really someone who is interested in the welfare of the people, the nature of that road, if the government then were interested and very serious in delivering services to the people of the Upper East Region, they would have gone to secure a loan, a facility from a bank to fund that road. When this government came to power, that is exactly what the government did and the Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia is somebody who took a personal interest in this project. You can ask the contractor they will tell you. And there is a fund available that is why the road was quickly done”. Akufo-Addo demand Int’l financial system reform; says is against Africa

Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has demanded urgent reform of the international financial system, as he believes the current monetary system is targeted against developing countries. President Akufo-Addo: “the financial markets have been set up and operate on rules designed for the benefit of rich and powerful nations, and, during times of crisis, the façade of international co-operation, under which they purport to operate, disappears.” He made the demand at the United Nations General Assembly, on Wednesday, 21st September, in New York. “These are the savage lessons that we have had to take in, as the world emerged from the grip of the coronavirus to energy and food price hikes, and a worldwide rise in the cost of living. The necessity for reform of the system is compelling.”“our world is currently not in a good place”, he recalled an observation by the World Bank which has described the global economy as “enduring its steepest slowdown since 1970.” Pointing out the devastating global economic pandemic, pushing Africa into its worst recession for half a century, President Akufo-Addo said that a slump in productivity and revenues, increased pressures on spending and spiraling public debts confronted the continent without relent. “As we grappled with these economic challenges, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine burst upon us, aggravating an already difficult situation. It is not just the dismay that we feel at seeing such deliberate devastation of cities and towns in Europe in the year 2022, we are feeling this war directly in our lives in Africa. Every bullet, every bomb, every shell that hits a target in Ukraine, hits our pockets and our economies in Africa,” he said. “the number one enemy this year”, President Akufo-Addo noted that “it hit a 40-year-high in the US and UK in recent months. There is record inflation in the eurozone. Several African countries have inflation rates surging three to four times higher than what they were just two years ago.” However, the President pointed out that “we are experiencing the highest inflation for 21 years. The high costs of food are hurting the poor, especially the urban poor, the most.” He said The spillover from the raising of interest rates by central banks across the world to combat inflation, according to the President, has been severe beyond borders, as global investors pull money out of developing economies to invest in bonds in the developed world. This, he explained further, has led to depreciating currencies and increased borrowing costs; meaning economies in Africa need to raise and spend more of their own currencies to service foreign debts in US dollars. “It has become clear, if ever there was any doubt, that the international financial structure is skewed significantly against developing and emerging economies like Ghana. The avenues that are opened to powerful nations to enable them to take measures that would ease pressures on their economies are closed to small nations,” he said. To make matters worse, President Akufo-Addo noted that “credit rating agencies have been quick to downgrade economies in Africa, making it harder to service our debts. The tag of Africa as investment risk is little more than, in substance, a self-fulfilling prophecy created by the prejudice of the international money market, which denies us access to cheaper borrowing, pushing us deeper into debts.” History, the President stressed, “will judge us harshly if we do not seize the opportunity to make the changes that will enable us to deal with the many problems we face.” Source: Apexnewsgh.com For publication please kindly contact us on 0256336062 or Email: apexnewsgh@gmail.com

Talensi: Ghana Mines workers Union with Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited to kick start talks ahead of 2023 salaries

Ghana Mines workers Union with the Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited a large-scale mining entity operating in the Talensi district of the Upper East Region will be meeting to discuss issues regarding their 2023 salaries and some other working conditions on Thursday, September 22, 2022. Apexnewsgh.com report The branch Union Secretary of Ghana mine workers in the area Solomon Yintota made the revelation during his engagement with Apexnewsgh.com on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, following an alleged accusation of workers of the company have not been treated well by their employer Earl International. Earlier, in an engagement on Apexnewsgh.com flagship programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” Solomon TTBa resident of the area has alleged that workers are been treated unfairly by management. “I am telling you that those people are more and less like they are working by day. They are working by day because, the moment you go to work they will mark your pay for the day, but the day you did not go to work, that day they won’t mark and you won’t get anything. And there is no mining firm in this country that is doing by day unless you are a casual worker or they are engaging you to come and do construction work for them”. He said However, responding to the comment made by Solomon TTB, the branch Union Secretary Mr. Yintota, partially admitted that is true that workers of Earl International don’t receive equal payment like other workers in various mining companies. “Am aware that their salaries are more than us and that where we are all struggling to see how we can catch up and they are been paid in dollars and we are been paid in cedis. But now we have been paid in cedis converted to dollar rate. As I told you, we are going to discuss 2023 salaries in dollars and that is the only thing I think we are lacking from other mining companies. Besides that, in the mining industry, the way our safety and other thing was, we were not like other miners. But because they have moved to a large scale, safety has improved. We are not saying we are perfect like other mining companies but we are also far behind where we came from and we are better somehow now”. Talensi Gold: Some of us are seeking political leadership because things are not done right—Solomon TTB

The Talensi Constituency Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Solomon TTB has revealed that some of the Talensi youth are seeking political leadership today because things are not done right with the natural resources given to them by God.He made the revelation during an engagement with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com on his flagship development programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” on Monday, September 19, 2022. He made the revelation during an engagement with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com on his flagship development programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” on Monday, September 19, 2022. According to the Constituency Secretary, some of the youth are seeking political leadership, not because of certain things but because some of the things are not done right, “if things are done why should we be seeking political leadership?“We cannot have Gold in Talensi and our road is very bad, We cannot have Gold in Talensi and our health facilities are very deplorable, We cannot have Gold in Talensi and we don’t have portable drinking water, We cannot have Gold in Talensi and youth are unemployed, We cannot have Gold in Talensi and our youth are engaging in certain social miscreants No, it is time for us to engage the mining companies we don’t have to fight with them. Fighting will never resolve the matter”. He also blamed traditional leaders in the area for contributing to the current challenges affecting the plight of the people in the various mining communities in the Talensi district. “Traditional leaders have failed us, if you have chiefs, Tindaanas, the opinion leaders coming out together with a blueprint, a memorandum of understanding engaging the communities together, bringing the mining companies on a round table discussion to look at how employment is done, how they are procuring their things who are the people they are giving the contract to, youth that they are employing, whether they obeying the mining safety, are they giving royalties? If they are giving royalties, how do we share them? These are things traditionally we have to look at”. “We have a District Chief Executive (DCE), He is from the community, he knows the people very well, he has contact with each of the mine. And for that matter, once you are a government appointee and you are representing the people, your core mandate is to see how you will help our people to be supported. So, when the government wants to end their so-called illegal mining I would have thought that EPA, Mineral Commission, The lands and Natural Resources Minister, Regional Minister, and DCE would consider training these people on how not to cause harm to the environment and atmosphere and even how to mine without destroying our water body by way of giving them a place to mine under the community mining. Sincerely speaking, EPA and mineral Commission have disappointed Talensi and I must be frank with you. In fact, people are of the view and alleging that they come to take monies” he alleged Source: Apexnewsgh.com|Ghana For publication please kindly contact us on 0256336062 or Email: apexnewsgh@gmail.com

Talensi Gold: Resident accuses Earl International Group Ghana Gold Ltd of unfair treatment against workers.

A Talensi resident and Constituency Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Solomon TTB has alleged that workers at the Shaanxi mine now Earl International Group Ghana Gold Ltd (EIGGGL) are subjected to some level of unfair treatment in line with their duty. He made the revelation during an engagement with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com on their flagship development programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” on Monday, September 19, 2022. According to Mr. Solomon TTB, the government, duty bearers, stakeholders and CEO of Earl International Group Ghana Gold Ltd (EIGGGL) should as a matter of urgency organize a round table discussion because to him, “there is a lot behind what we are seeing. The workers who are at Shaanxi now Earl International, you people need to engage them, a very serious mine that is engaged in large scale mining, their salary should be of concern” He said “I am telling you that those people are more and less like they are working by day. They are working by day because, the moment you go to work they will mark your pay for the day, but the day you did not go to work, that day they won’t mark and you won’t get anything. And there is no mining firm in this country that is doing by day unless you are a casual worker or they are engaging you to come and do construction work for them”. “And if they employ you and you are asking for some days off, those days you are asking for, they will grant you alright but they won’t pay you for those days. If they grant you, you don’t have money to collect from them. If you are a professional teacher and you ask for permission from your school head and your school head grants you permission, do they write comptroller and accountant general not to pay you because you didn’t come to school? If you work with the Mineral commission and you ask for permission from your boss and it is granted does the government of Ghana refuse to pay you? Why are they allowing them to do this? These are some of the things going on there and we are not happy. They are our brothers and we want them to live a responsible life. So, they should be well compensated, they should be well paid”. He stressed “I don’t think that a diploma teacher teaching in Tola will not be paid less because he is working in a remote community. His colleague in Accra and the one at Tola receive the same salary. For example, If Newmonth Ghana gold mine is paying their PRO Ghc 20,000, a PRO in Earl International should be paid Ghc 20,000 too” he emphasized He further added, “If you went to work and there is an institutional failure at the site, they will not mark you for the day. Even though you went to work alright, they will not mark you for the day”. Mr. TTB alleged However, reacting to Solomon TTB’s position on maltreatment of workers at the Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited, the Union branch Secretary of Ghana mine workers Union Solomon Yintota refuted the claim. According to him, “In mining, we have 24 working days. We work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and 24 days a month. But if you worked more than 24 days, they calculate them as extra days because that is your rest day you have used to work. So, within the 24 days, the rest of the 6 days are meant for you to rest whether you asked for permission or you’re on leave. So, because you are entitled to work for 24 days, you have to take off 6 days. So, if you asked for permission for 3 or 4 days, it will not affect your 24 days. Assuming my salary is Ghc 2000.00, it will be based on the 24 days”. “So, if he is saying if worker asked for permission they won’t pay him, it is not within the 24 days and every institution has rules and regulation. So, if you are not there to know this is how we do it you won’t understand”.However, Mr. Yintota agreed to the fact that the payment issue needs to be addressed “Even though we have some issues with the company we need to address especially as he was sighting example with payment of workers like PRO in some other areas that are very perfect. But in the institution we are, they started from somewhere and get to somewhere”. COVID-19: Ghc 81million fumigation exercise by Zoomlion GH LTD, a huge loss for Ghana–Dr. Anaba

The Executive Director for the African Centre for Health Policy Research and Analysis, Dr. Thomas Anaba has revealed that the COVID-19 fumigation of churches, markets, schools, and public institutions which were done by Zoomlion Ghana Limited was a huge loss for the country because the chemical used didn’t serve the purpose. Apexnewsgh.com report Dr. Anaba made the revelation during his speech at the TEIN induction ceremony of level 100 students of Gbewa College of Education on Saturday, July 17, 2022. According to Dr. Anaba, “COVID-19 came and all of us were worried how the government could get money to solve the covid-19 problem. Because, since 2019 our economy started sliding down. But fortunately for Ghana, the government was even able to raise more money than what we expected to raise to manage COVID-19. And if you also check our budget and our revenue generation, it is only in 2020 that we slide down about 5 billion but, the rest of the years, we meet our target and even exceeded and that shows that the government had enough money to manage covid-19 and even had excess”. “But here we are if you want to check what government used the monies for, after the finance minister came to accounts for it we virtually used half of the monies. The rest he never told us where it went into. From the very beginning of management of COVID-19, some of us have serious problems with how monies were been expended”. He added: “We complained, first about news dissemination. They left everything to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in Accra, media houses were left out, and even the national council for civic education was left out. Some of us have to come out and talk vigorously before government started giving them money. They never involve local radio stations to be able to translate all the information into local languages. We also saw what happen during the lockdown, they prepared a food handout for people virtually throwing it without accountability. We complained that that was not going to be accountable, after that, they gave us very huge figures about what they spent”. “Meanwhile, we saw benevolent institutions and persons donating items in a very orderly manner, telling people how much they have donated to institutions, and that one could not be done by the government. It came to quarantine, whereby institutions facilities that were used for quarantine, when you trace the background, they were virtually facilities owned by NPP apparatchik. And you were false to pay huge sums of monies instead of government facilitating it and rather making the monies for us to cushion Ghana, they were rather making people in their party make benefits, make do with the incomes from COVID-19 and leaving Ghana. If you look at the revenue we could have generated more, even Kotoka international airport, we could have made a lot of money there, and remember the airport was built with a loan. Instead of letting the COVID-19 test be for the airport, they rather gave it to a private body that made millions of dollars and took it away whiles the government was struggling for money to pay for the construction of the airport. This shows the government wasn’t smart enough”. “When you come to purchase of vaccines, Ghana government has not spent any much money in purchasing vaccine from Ghana’s government pocket. We got virtually everything through donations. The only vaccines we purchased with our money was the one deviled with corruption where a Finance Minister and the Health Minister go ahead and paid money for vaccines we even didn’t have and that really brought about the brouhaha in the system”. “You remembered they said, they were distributing PPEs to school, we traced and realized that many schools didn’t get PPEs meanwhile million were spent on PPEs. The most interesting thing, I see how they collaborated with private institutions to dupe Ghana, is the fumigation of churches, markets, schools, and public institutions, where Zoomlion Ghana Limited claimed they have fumigated Ghana and collected Ghc 81million when they knew very that fumigation they were doing had no effect because the chemical they were using was not going to serve the purpose they were using for. So, that was Ghc 81million loss”. “They decided to insure all health front liners, I am a front liner, many private facilities were front liners but they never had any insurance but the worst of it is that all those who were insured with insurance were insured with Enterprise Insurance, the same Finance Minister’s private company this shows how they worked to dupe this country of resources”. Dr. Anaba expressed satisfaction following parliamentary interest for an independent audit into the matter because he believes the corruption witnessed by Ghanaians during COVID-19 was massive. However, he encouraged the newly inducted students of Gbewa College of Education to take their studies serious irrespective of their political engagement on campus. Feature: Interesting factors contributing to the underdevelopment of Upper East Region

:Written By Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen No doubt, the Upper East Region of Ghana is a wonderful place to live in, especially with people from rich cultural practices and traditions, a region blessed with tremendous tourist sites all over. However, in the Upper East Region, one of the unfortunate canker or if you like, a defunct micro-finance i have seen hitting the region back to back apart from defunct Diamond Winners, God is Love, Power Ground and the almighty DKM micro-finance is the lack of zeal for ‘development’ from the elites and those who are supposed to know better, i mean those elites from the Upper East Region. No wonder in my last article in October 2021, one of my resource persons from the region strongly holds the views that the region main canker is caused by the elites,  “I see our number one problem as the elite who are educated, they are the problem of the Upper East Region, not the uneducated people” Alhaji Awal Ahmed Kariama, Executive Director at RISE-Ghana maintained Fortunately, Upper East Region has produced very notable individuals and personalities who should have turned things around. But sadly, the reality is that these notable, brilliant and worthy personalities mostly based outside the region, fear coming back home to help develop their own region where they are created as individual gifts and blessings from the most high. Another interesting point bedeviling development in our communities and region is the trending attitude of our chiefs allowing themselves used by politicians by way of offering them appointments and positions in their government. To me, i have strong view that chiefs should not engage in any government activity but must use their office to lobby for development for their people and region. Chiefs must be respected by politicians for the role they play towards development. It is the job of traditional rulers to mediate between the people and the government. It is also their role to fight for the rightful development for their people and region through their office such as Regional House of Chiefs. Is that really the case in the Upper East Region? i guess you already know the answer? There is a saying that: “One does not learn how to use the left hand in old age” Yes, that is a fact. A man who decides to divert his or her children’s minds away from their own region isn’t patriotic to his region. A man who does not care about the welfare of his people back home isn’t worthy to be called a native. A man who is given a good opportunity in a high office that is expected to bring development to his or her people and he or she misused the opportunity, there is no guarantee such a person will be able to bring development if given another opportunity. This is one of the predicaments bedeviling the people of the Upper East Region. In the Upper East Region, with some allocated time,13w one could easily count around the number of storey buildings within the region compared to other regions and majority of these top buildings belong to strangers who on their own are struggling to make the region a better place for everyone. However, mostly when you traveled to Accra or Kumasi, most modern buildings you see across are owned by someone from the Upper East region. Then, you asked yourself what could be the problem? Well, I think is our mentality. I was so surprised and shocked in 2021 when one of the region’s prominent personality informed me during one of our phone conversations that he hasn’t visited home for 33 years and this prominent figure has children and none of them had visited home as well and I mean their father’s compound. During that conversation he was able to informed me that her daughter is due for marriage anytime she wishes because she is of age. So, you see? How will such children have their region at heart, especially when their father is careless about the region? Meanwhile, the man’s only reason was that his siblings died all as a result of family issues. So, the parent had to travel down south for greener pastures with few of them left. So, in this case, it will definitely be a hard thing to learn how to use a left hand as an old man isn’t it? His 33 years old decision is today affecting the innocent people of his family, community, district, constituency and the region developmentally. He is the only one who was able to share that with me but i knew, there are many more with such a tough decision. No wonder, the people of the Upper East Region are not moved by the non-availability of the Passport Office Application Center for a whole region. Because, after all those who normally travel and understand the importance of a traveling passport are living outside the region. Isn’t that regrettable as a region? No wonder, they are not moved by the continuously failed promises by politicians. In December 2021, we were told by the Upper East Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu that the signing of a concessional loan facility of $20 million between the governments of Ghana and Saudi Arabia in 2019 for the completion of Bolgatanga Regional Hospital has been truncated and the people of Upper East are quiet and pleased with such a piece of disturbing news after years of battling on local radio stations across the region between communicators of NDC and NPP claiming who should take glory for the hospital renovation project. Meanwhile, when i reached out to the BONABOTO Regional chairman Dr. Esmond Agurgo Balfour to know their plans following the announcement made by the regional Minister about the cancellation of the initial Bolgatanga Regional Hospital concessional loan facility of $20 million between the Ghana government and Saudi Arabia, he confirmed that they have received the information as a group. He described the information as a piece of disappointing news.

He appreciated their widow mother for the love and care she has shown towards her two physically challenged children despite their conditions, as he prayed for God’s blessings and encouragement towards her sacrifice. “We all know that this is a very difficult moment, we all could be in this situation but when God has blessed us and we can walk and fight and fend for ourselves, we must always remember that not everybody is fortunate. And these kids, is not by choice they are in the situation they are, but they must live life to the full and God knows why he chose this humble mother to take care of these children. She is taking care of these children for humanity and it is for us to encourage her and support her so that she can give these kids as much fulfilling life as she can. Meanwhile, Mr. Adongo said, his initial plan when he had not seen the two physically challenged sisters, was to find a way to train them to take up a trade but was later informed by Chidozie that their condition won’t allow them. He pledged, to continue supporting the family with stipends and once a while replenished the foodstuffs to enable them to live a better life. “Originally our thought when I hadn’t seen them, was to find a way to train them to take up a trade. But yesterday my good friend made me understand that is a bit difficult to achieve that end. So we have to continue to provide this support and this is not going to be the last time. My hope is to be able to continue to provide the stipend and once a while replenished the foodstuff for them so that they can also live a better life. That’s the reality of life, is not everybody who was fortunate. But it tells you and i, how fortunate we are and we must always thank God that we were given some attribute that allows us to do the work that we do and to go out and look for shelter, food and everything for ourselves not because we are special, is because God just have on us and I have a difficulty looking at these kids …. (Emotional set in)… Among what Mr. Adongo donated to the family includes Soap, Tinipa, Tomato, Omo, Oil and a 50kg bag of Rice with a cash amount of amount Two Thousand Ghana Cedis ( Ghc 2,000.00) to support their widow mother’s koose and yam frying (spicy bean cake)  petty business.
