President of the NABCO Trainees Association of Ghana (NABTAG) Dennis Opoku Katakyie has sent what he described as a ‘hard truth’ message to the government over their unpaid 9 months arrears. Apexnewsgh.com report According to NABTAG, even though they experienced some delays, the government has done well by not owing them within their 3 years contract. He said, after that, there was a contract extension for 10 months which the government has been able to pay one out of 10 months, still remaining 9 months unpaid. Speaking on Apexnews Ghana’s flagship programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, Mr. Katakyie said, He wants to tell the government that, if is not careful and continue to sit on 9months stipends of innocent NABCO beneficiaries, it is going to be something worried to the government now and in future, because generations are going to use it a reference against this government. “I myself have been on a political stage to convince Ghanaians that Nano Addo brought Nation Builder Corps lets support him. We have petitioned him to make us permanent when the scheme is coming to an end and now he is on the battlefield let’s support him. Because nobody wants the mother, father, or CEO to die. If your CEO or father dies what will happen? That means you have lost someone valuable”. He stressed He further advised the government Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to learn from the statement made by former President John Dramani Mahama which he believes is still hunting political carrier and his party till date. “The former President of the Republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama last told graduates that he is not a magician to give them a job. This thing the former President said has really caused damages to him and his governance because they in day out people refer. So, if Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP government, this is hard truth am telling them if they don’t get rid of these unpaid stipends, children yet unborn will use as a response”. He stated “As for me, wherever I stand, I would preach about the positive aspect of the scheme and then bring our challenges to it to make it real and genuine but people may put away the importance and all of a sudden bring out the disadvantage or the bad aspect”. Insisting that others will go straight by saying the NPP government came and employ 100,000 NABCO trainees, they worked for 10 months and the NPP government paid them only one month. Some of the beneficiaries have died as a result of hardship, some have lost their marriages, some have ended their educational journey, some have been removed from their renting apartments, and a lot of them are going through one difficulty or the other and yet their cries have not been listened to by those at the helm of affairs at the time of filling this report. However, their petition to the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia which was received by a Deputy Chief of Staff has not received any attention till date despite the assurance of being a listening government by the Deputy Chief of Staff. NABCO: Pay NABCO beneficiaries, you have no excuse not to pay them– Kennedy Agyapong fires govt
Maverick Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has admonished his government to pay arrears owed to NABCO beneficiaries because there is no excuse not to pay them after asking them to stay at post. Apexnewsgh.com He said in an interview: Anytime I traveled and get to the airport, I get these young men and women coming to me that I should plead on their behalf that they have not been paid and the government has to pay them. You made propaganda with it. Now, when it comes to these NABCO guys, NPP is now behaving like NDC. Is complete propaganda if you are not able to pay NABCO beneficiaries. You have to pay them”. “Some were assimilated into the system but not all of them. So, if the government thinks it cannot do it again at least what is owed to them should be given to them without no question about it. Because nobody works for free. We should be reasonable human beings”. “These beneficiaries were employed, at least their transportation cost is not paid by the government, and they find any means necessary to go to work, so the government has no excuse whatsoever to say they are not going to pay them. Now, you get money to pay 20,000 to parliamentarians but you don’t have money to pay NABCO beneficiaries. I support them, should for a month demonstration straight for the government to sit up and pay them as simple as that”. He admonished NABCO beneficiaries have been neglected by the employers for over 8 months now without receiving arrears due them since after they were made to stay at their various posts, through a communique issued by the NABCO Headquarters dated November 15, 2021, pending their permanent arrangement. NABCO: We didn’t assume we are going to reach this level and that is the most unfortunate part, very unfortunate-NABTAG PRESIDENT laments.
The National President for NABCO Trainees Association of Ghana Dennis Katakyie has cried out loud after not receiving his monthly stipend arrears for good solid 4 months. He said: “We didn’t assume we are going to reach this level and that is the most unfortunate part, very unfortunate”. Apexnewsgh.com report Dennis Katakyie was speaking in an interview conducted by ClassFm and monitored keenly by Apexnewsgh.com He said: ”If your son or Daughter seek for money to buy something and you tell him or her to wait you will give it to her, your ward will expect that you are going to give it to him within the shortest possible time but, when he or she sees that you are not giving, the next step will be taken and I think that is where we are now. So, hearing they are working on it, we didn’t assume we are going to reach this level and that is the most unfortunate part, very unfortunate. We are really frustrated and the hardship is too much and we have to voice out. “Nobody can take the advantages and the benefits this laudable programme or initiative has given us, for that one is true but at the end of the day, all that we say is that our welfare is still paramount. If there is something going on wrong, we need to come out and voice it out especially to the stakeholders, government and the authorities so that can make things easy for whatever we are seeking”. CLASS FM HOST Asked: “You keep saying things are hard, your members are frustrated, what is making things hard for them? “Well, we are not paid for 4 months, how can we manage we have family members and some of us we take a car before we get to our final destination to work and others too walk but even if you work, you need to eat. As I said, this Christmas we needed to buy some for the families you understand that? We have been in the system for 3 years and of course, we wish that we are able to do some big big necessities which of course we couldn’t see or witness that during this seasonal period, that means is hard without money you can’t make it”. “We have family members some of us imagine, am married with two kids without pay for 4 good months, how am I going to survive with my family and relative. So, if we say things are hard it should be understood”. Meanwhile, the ongoing predicaments of these NABCO beneficiaries are becoming worst as some of their members keep on dying without receiving their arrears from management. However, the unfortunate part according to them, is that no government official has knowledge of when their predicament will be resolved. However, Mr. Boahen expressed satisfaction with the bold step decision made by Vice President. “As a country is a clear indication of how determined the government is prepared to arrest the issues of joblessness and for me, I applaud the government for this bold initiative and more especially the Vice President for coming out to give this directive”. As for those who were talking about the time limit, whether there is a time limit or there is no time limit, for me the most important thing is that some young Ghanaians are been employed.
