Mr. John Sibe Dakura a member of the Kessena Nankana Municipal Social Accountability Committee (KNMSAC) has said, when men and women are given an equal amount to perform a certain duty, women bring results while men only used their share of the equal amount to smoke cigarette.

Mr. Dakura made the pronouncement during a stakeholder’s consultative meeting organized by TEERE a registered national NGO initially domiciled in the Upper East region but working across the northern regions on October 06, 2022.
Sharing his experience, Mr. Dakura narrated that, when they asked the men what they want, the men said they needed money to farm and the NGO gave them money to go and farm.

He said they also asked the women what they want and they say they want livestock to rare. He said they gave them money to buy the livestock themselves and they rejected the money and asked them to buy the livestock for them and they went ahead and bought the livestock and distributed it to the women.

He said: “After the farming season when we went round to know how much they have harvested, one of the men told us that he collected the money and went to a soothsayer and they asked him to buy a dog and sacrifice. So, he used the money and buy a dog for sacrifice”. Dakura explained

“So, looking at it, you would realize that women do better than men. Because when a woman has Ghc 2.00 she is thinking of buying Kose to send back to the child. When a man has Ghc 2.00 he is looking for a Cigarette” He concluded
