The District Director of Agriculture in Nabdam District of the Upper East Region Rashid Imoro, has revealed a shocking truth at the fourth national dialogue organized by Ghana Federation of Forest and Farm Producers (GhaFFaP) in Bolgatanga. Apexnewsgh Reports
According to Mr. Imoro, numerous crops are being abandoned farmers in various districts. He urged GhaFFap members to focus on local crops, citing their economic benefits.
Mr. Imoro emphasized the need for change, particularly in women’s access to productive resources. He praised the presence of chiefs, opinion leaders, and Queen mothers, acknowledging that cultural barriers have hindered women’s empowerment.
To address this, Mr. Imoro suggested advocating for women’s groups at the district level, enabling them to access friendly policies and education on group dynamics and financial literacy.
Climate change and resilience were also key concerns. Mr. Imoro criticized the lack of synergy in projects funded by the Ministry and other departments, citing cashew cultivation in Savannah regions as an example.
Despite significant investment, these projects have yielded minimal results. He proposed exploring alternative crops, like folio, which requires less investment and has high demand.
By addressing these issues, farmers can improve the lives of women farmers and promote sustainable agriculture practices. As he emphasized, “We can improve the life of the Woman in Ghana” through collective effort and collaboration.
