Filson Awankua, the Founder of a newly launched group known as Rapid Response Unit (RRU) for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has described the Vice President as the most important and popular Vice President in the history of Ghana. According to Mr. Awankua, the Vice President has shown massive effectiveness, and activeness and has contributed towards the development of the country ahead of others who have enjoyed similar positions in the past including John Dramani Mahama. Meanwhile, speaking about the contribution of Vice President Dr. Bawumia to the party, Mr. maintained Alan John Kyerematen did not partner Akufo-Addo, Joe Ghartey and the rest did not partner Akufo-Addo, it was Mahamudu Bawumia. “So, if Mahamudu Bawumia partnered with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and they persevered, labored, and delivered victory on two occasions against the NDC candidate John Mahama whom they are bringing, now who is the best person to go forward? He asked “Aside that, apart from beating and forming a government, there are also other things like political unity, geographical unity, national unity, and cohesion. This is a Vice President who has Islamic faith but relates so well with the Christian faith. In fact most of his activities, he has built Christian establishments, he has supported churches. He carries that kind of unity or unifying symbol which our nation needs so much”. Mr. Awankua further stressed, “It is under this Vice President that the Chief Imam of the Republic of Ghana celebrated his birthday in the Church. It takes this man to bring Ghana together, we are already a united country to maintain the unity”. “Aside that, if you look at his activity as Vice President, I know if I asked you the media to mention two most important or popular Vice President Ghana has produced you would mention one person Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and some of you may even forget other Vice President names why? Because Dr. Bawumia is so effective, he is active and he has contributed towards the development of this country”. He stressed “As Vice President, we haven’t heard for the past 6 years that he has been the number 2, we have not seen any friction between him and his boss and that shows he is a man of tolerance, unity, and humility. I don’t want to refer you to some former Vice presidents who nearly resigned because of the role their bosses gave them or did not give them. But Dr. Bawumia has that typical northern humility in him. So, if you give the mantle to him we believe Isha Allah, he will bring all of us together” he expressed confidence. However, explaining the role of RRU, he said, The Rapid Response Unit is made up of grassroots membership of the great elephant part, to design and facilitate friendly activities for the overwhelming victory of His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at the party’s presidential primaries and onto the governance of this country in 2025.
